Bio:
Susan Parmenter grew up in rural Massachusetts
on a working apple farm. She was the fifth of six children
and spent
much of her time exploring the woods, fields and orchards
as well
as drawing, painting and "imagining".
At an early age she was inspired by the work of Beatrix
Potter and decided she too, would be an artist.
Susan
attended Massachusetts College Of Art as an illustration
major and eventually moved to New Hampshire where she
worked as a freelance illustrator for over twenty
years. Presently,
her love of drawing and painting has returned her to
the fine art world. She has studied with many high
quality
artists in
the New England area including Richard Schmid and The
Putney Painters and John C. Traynor. She paints in
a realist style
using oils and pastels. Favorite subjects are landscape,
still life and animals.
Susan
is a full-time artist, working and living in Sunapee, New
Hampshire along with her husband, a
cat, a bird and her
beloved corgis.
Artist
Statement:
I am passionate about art
and compelled to create. Like breathing, I just have to do
it. Painting,
drawing, making
something beautiful,
truly gives me joy. If I can paint beyond the subject
and move the viewer "to feel", then
I am happy.
