Mount Sunapee Adventure Park

by
Adaline Gilmore

One of the most popular spots around Lake Sunapee is the Mount Sunapee Adventure Park. If you ever find yourself bored in the Lake Sunapee region, then head over to this multi-faceted park that is perfect for families and people of all ages. Open year round for activities and events, the experience is truly an adventure.

Summer Activities (opens in May)

Canopy Zip-Line Tours and Aerial Challenge Course

There’s no better way to start off your adventure for the day than experiencing the canopy zip-line tour. You will descend from the top of South Peak and from there traverse through a series of zip-lines, rope bridges, and rappelling covering a total distance of 3⁄4 of a mile over the forest floor. The eight zip-lines provide fantastic views of the wildlife below and the mountain backdrop.

Tip: Make sure you call for reservations because tours fill up fast!!

The aerial challenge course is a 32 obstacle course starting at a centered platform in the woods. It features a beginner loop, two intermediate loops, and an advanced loop. The course is perfect for ages six and up as obstacles range from plank bridges, zip lines, monkey vines, rope bridges, and so much more.

Climbing Wall/Gravity Jump

For those of you who are not afraid of heights, you should check out the AMP Energy Gravity Jump. With several routes to choose from on the climbing wall, once you reach the top a 50’x50’ airbag is waiting below. Thrill seekers have a choice between two platforms to jump from either the eight or fifteen feet platform. Each individual gets a combination of five jumps/climbs, so you are sure to get a little adrenalin rush.

Evolution Bike Park (New for 2015)

The Evolution Bike Park is a new addition to The Adventure Park offering a full-service mountain bike center. Individuals can rent bikes, receive lessons, or get mechanical support. The new flow trail is a mile-long trail that winds its way down from South Peak. The second trail, Dirt Serpent, is perfect for families. It offers several banked turns and even has jumps and terrain for those looking for a challenge.

Tip: Two more trails will open in mid-summer!

Disc Golf

If you are looking for an entertaining group activity that will give you a little exercise, you should check out the beautiful disc golf course. Players will take the chairlift to the top of South Peak where they will find their first tee of the 18-hole course. Players will wind their way through the woods, streams, and stone walls as they make their way down the mountainside.

Tip: Check out their website for the disc golf tournament!

Miniature Golf

Another great group activity at the Adventure Park is The Wild Goose Waters Miniature Golf Course. The 18-hole course is at the bottom of South Peak and is open daily. Keep your eyes peeled for the three Lake Sunapee lighthouse replicas on the course.

Chair Lift Rides

The chair lift rides are perfect for all ages and are a great way to catch some great pictures of the views. Ride your way to the top of South Peak and continue your adventure on a hike down the hill on the Interpretive Trails. Summit Sky Rides to the top of Mount Sunapee run on selected dates thru out the summer. Click here for schedule
